I can stand on my head and turn blue, shouting the virtues of homeschooling (and I sometimes do!), BUT nothing speaks as loudly as a story about a wicked awesome homeschooler!  Check out this article in Sunday’s Boston Globe about 18-year-old Claire Dickson (she’s from Medford, no less!).  Claire has never been to school.  And her story is a powerful example of how homeschooling affords young people the time and space to discover and pursue their passions!!

“Claire has earned eight Downbeat Student Music Awards, including best Junior High and High School Jazz Vocalist for four consecutive years.  Claire performed with the Boston Pops in June, 2014, as a winner of the Fidelity Investments Young Artists Competition, and at the Palladium in Carmel, Indiana with Michael Feinstein as a Songbook All-Star in his Great American Songbook Competition. For the summer of 2013, she received a full scholarship to participate in Terri Lyne Carrington’s Summer Jazz Workshop at Berklee College of Music.”  Check out Claire Dickson’s website to learn more!
